Why Imani & Co. Living was created for older adults in need

Imani & Co. Living was born out of both a professional calling and a personal conviction. As a nurse specializing in geriatric care, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside older adults during some of their most vulnerable moments, offering care, compassion, and comfort when they needed it most.

But over time, something began to weigh heavily on me: I was discharging elderly patients — some in fragile health, many without family support, directly to the streets or to shelters that weren’t equipped to meet their needs. These were patients who had just overcome medical crises, only to be sent back into environments that threatened their recovery, their dignity, and their lives.

That experience changed me. It showed me how deeply broken our system is for aging adults, especially those who are unhoused, disabled, or navigating complex health issues alone. I realized my care couldn’t stop at the bedside. I had to do more.

Imani & Co. Living was created in response to that need. We exist to provide older adults with safe, stable, and restorative housing. Not just a place to sleep, but a place to live. Our homes are designed for dignity, offering wraparound support, community connection, and the peace every elder deserves.

Whether it's a senior veteran, a formerly incarcerated elder, or someone aging without family or resources, we welcome them home. Because no older adult should spend their final years on the street.

This is more than housing. It’s a promise: that our elders will not be forgotten.
